EVE, a Non-Profit Organization, was founded in 2014 by a group of artists who decided to set out on a unitedly independent path with the intent to enhance the independent creation scene in Israel, to allow freedom and goals for independent creators and to promote independent Israeli creation both in Israel and worldwide.
EVE is an umbrella organization that provides its members with financial management services, professional counselling, rehearsal space subsidies, insurance and professional seminars. In addition, the organization promotes common interests with the governmental and cultural institutions as well as initiates projects in accordance with the decisions of its members and its leading team.
The organization aims to expand its activity, to make professional information available for its members, to advise younger artists, make use of its veteran members’ knowledge and experience and to improve the independent artists’ creative space and “living conditions”. Joining the organization requires meeting professional requirements and paying member dues.
Artists who are members of EVE say that being a member gives them a sense of belonging to an active and supportive community of artists. EVE keeps the community connected through dedicated WhatsApp groups and annual gatherings.

Membership is open to independent artists working in theater and performance art who meet EVE’s eligibility criteria. (The eligibility criteria are updated from time to time).
Priority is given to artists who meet the eligibility criteria for receiving funding from the Ministry of Culture. (The reason for this prioritization is that EVE is the only organization through which any artist, who is not registered as a non-profit organization, can submit a funding application to the Ministry of Culture).
EVE membership opens once a year, usually in the last quarter of the year. An announcement of the opening of the “membership period” will be published in the EVE newsletter, via social networks, and by email to all interested parties.
EVE strives to make professional information accessible to all independent artists working in the field of theater and performance art. This information includes consolidating and sharing numerous “open calls”, as well as information about grants and funding, and more.

In addition, EVE provides financial services to any artist who needs such services. Within the framework of these services, we manage grants, support, and ongoing artistic activity for artists.
Ministry of Culture and Sport – Culture Administration
EVE is supported by the Israel Ministry of Culture and Sport. This funding allows us to run day-to-day operations, initiate activities, and promote independent artists who are members of EVE.
Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality – Arts Department
The Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, through its Culture Division, Arts Department, has supported EVE on an ongoing basis since 2020. In addition to the municipality’s ongoing funding for our activity as an umbrella organization, the municipality also assists EVE with initiating various projects, including: The EVE podcast, The Emerging Artist Incubator, and more.
Mifal HaPayis (The Israeli Lottery) Council for Culture and Art
The Mifal HaPayis Council has supported independent artists and their work for many years. Many EVE members have received and continue to receive grants from Miffal HaPayis to support their work. EVE itself has also carried out projects over the years that were supported by the Mifal HaPayis Council, including: a directing incubator for women from the ultra-Orthodox sector, and hosting international artists in Israel.
Culture & Art Institutions Forum in Israel
EVE is a member of the Culture & Art Institutions Forum in Israel. The goals of the forum are promoting and strengthening culture and art in Israel, strengthening and establishing cultural and art institutions from all fields across the country, increasing the budget for culture and support for institutions, promoting Israeli culture and creative work to audiences in Israel and abroad. The Israeli Directors’ Guild
The Israeli Directors’ Guild aims to promote theater and the core values it represents, while protecting the rights of theater artists, and first and foremost, theater directors. EVE and the Directors’ Guild cooperate on various issues related to artists’ employment conditions and the accessibility of information about employment conditions.
Other Israeli Umbrella Organizations
We work on various issues in cooperation with three wonderful umbrella organizations that operate alongside us in the field of independent creation in Israel: The Choreographers Association, The Felicja Blumental Music Center Association, and Bar-Kayma for Culture, Art, Music, and Peace.
Shaham – The Israeli Actors Guild
We work in cooperation with Shaham- The Israeli Actors Guild. We jointly created an Artist-Actor agreement for productions supported by the Ministry of Culture, and we facilitate additional cooperation as needed.
The Israel Festival, Jerusalem
Together with the Israel Festival, we initiated meetings between independent artists and the top international artists who participate in the Israel Festival. In 2016, we hosted the artist Philippe Quesne, and in 2017, we launched EVE Meeting #1 – Between Creation and Production, which dealt with the “seam” between production and creation, and hosted the worldwide theater legend, Robert Wilson, and the promising young artist, Thom Luz.
