1. Who we are
We are EVE, a non-profit initiative based in Israel (registered non-profit #580549962), dedicated to advancing knowledge, research and practice in theatre and performance studies. We operate this website to share articles, resources, events and publications in the field.
Our website address is: https://eve.org.il.
2. What personal data we collect & why
When you visit and interact with our website, we may collect the following categories of data:
2.1 Visitor / browsing data
When you browse our site, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including: your IP address, approximate location, browser type/version, device type, operating system, date/time of access, referring URL, pages visited, and actions (clicks, scrolls, submissions).
We use this data for purposes including: estimating shipping/taxes (see ecommerce below), improving site performance and usability, monitoring security, and analytics.
We also use the plugin Jetpack which collects visitor activity for site-management purposes.
We also use the Google Analytics service, which aggregates statistics about site traffic, user behaviour, and to monitor our site’s presence in search results. These services may collect your IP address and other browser/device data. You can review Google’s terms and privacy practices on Google’s site.
2.2 Ecommerce / account data
If you purchase from our store (via the website), we collect information such as: your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, optional account username/password if you create an account, payment/transaction details (via our payment processor), and any other information you supply (e.g., order preferences).
We use this data for: processing and fulfilling orders, shipping, invoicing/taxes, responding to your requests (e.g., refunds, complaints), account-setup, fraud prevention, marketing (if you have opted in), and improving store offerings.
If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number for future checkouts.
2.3 Newsletter / subscription data
If you sign up for our newsletter (via Mailchimp), we will collect your email address (and any additional optional details you provide) and record your subscription status. Mailchimp acts as a data processor (or controller, depending on context) and offers tools for GDPR compliance. We will use your information to send you our newsletters or updates (if you have opted in). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in our emails.
2.4 Comments and reviews
If you leave comments or reviews on our site, we will store your submitted name, email address (if required), website (if provided), plus the comment/review text itself.
We use this data to enable the comment/review functionality, moderate content, and respond to your feedback.

Embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles hosted by third-parties) may also drop cookies or otherwise collect data when you interact with them.
3. Plugins & third-party services we use
In addition to the above, the following are the main additional third party plugins services we use on our site:
Wordfence: We use this plugin to enhance site security (firewall, malware scanning, login-protection). It may collect data such as visitor IP addresses, user IDs, login attempts and other security-relevant metadata. Wordfence’s policy states that IP addresses are considered personal data and may be collected.
- Askimet: We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet Anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the User sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).
Payment & shipping processors: We use external payment gateways and/or processors (e.g. Sumit, Upay) to handle payments. When you make a purchase, your payment details will be passed to the payment processor, and we rely on their separate privacy policies.
- Cloudflare – We route the website’s traffic through Cloudflare’s servers in order to prevent attacks and intrusions.
4. How long we keep your data
We store your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected (including to fulfill legal, tax or accounting obligations).
We will delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed (unless retention is required by law).
For reviews/comments, we store them for as long as you choose to keep them published (unless you request removal).
Security logs may be stored for a defined period for fraud detection and protection; anonymisation may apply.
5. Who has access and where your data is sent
On our team, administrators may access order information (what was purchased, when, and where to send it), customer information (name, email, billing/shipping address) to fulfil orders, issue refunds, provide support and improve our services.
Some categories of data are transferred to our external service-providers (payment processors, analytics providers, Mailchimp, security services) in order to provide you with the service. These service providers may be located outside of Israel (and potentially outside the EU/EEA) and by using our service you consent to this cross-border data transfer.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
6. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. This includes using website security tools (e.g., Wordfence), secure data centres, encrypted transmissions, and regular security reviews.
However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
