Art is a sustaining force. Art is refuge and a haven, it can give us the power to heal and release. It can give people perspective and sources of inspiration even during the most unbearable moments. With the wings of creativity we can soar to other places or to draw inwards to ourselves and our surroundings. Creativity is a way to find a path in the darkness to be able to rewrite our story, as individuals and as a society. Art and history echo each other, while at the same time art charts a path to the future. It is not a luxury, it is resilience for the soul that allows us to build a narrative in the present and frees us to dream of future horizons.
Since the October 7th massacre, Israeli artists have sprung into action to aid displaced populations, traveling between wounded and reeling communities. After weeks of broad and significant efforts, there is a need to return to the energy of creating – meeting up, making space for conversation and inspiration. At the Creative Energy gathering, we’ll enable the artist community to find courses of action for these times, and to consider the steps towards the next stage. Sessions will include conversations, spaces of contemplation, and workshops, during which we’ll explore how we can understand the act of artistic expression in these times and what is our role as artists in wartime and in the future after the war is over. How can we write and create in these times, what are our artistic references when we look to the past and the future. A series of inspiring artists, thinkers, and researchers will lead workshops, charting an outline for how to think and what to do in these times.
